The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially released the JEE Main 2026 Session 1 Notification on 31 October 2025. The online application process for the first session has started at jeemain.nta.nic.in. Eligible candidates can apply for admission to B.E./B.Tech, B.Arch, and B.Planning courses for the academic session 2026-27.

About JEE (Main) 2026

The Joint Entrance Examination (Main) is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) under the Ministry of Education, Government of India. It serves as a gateway for admission to NITs, IIITs, CFTIs, and other recognized technical institutions. It also acts as an eligibility test for JEE Advanced, which is required for admission to the IITs.

Medium of Examination

The JEE (Main) 2026 will be conducted in 13 languages — English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.

Note: For each subject, Section A will have Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) and Section B will have questions whose answers are to be filled as numerical values. There will be negative marking for incorrect answers in both sections.

How to Apply for JEE (Main) 2026 Session 1

Candidates can apply for JEE (Main) 2026 Session 1 through the online mode only at jeemain.nta.nic.in. Applications submitted through any other mode will not be accepted.

  • Only one application per candidate is allowed. Multiple forms will lead to disqualification.
  • Use your own or parents’ email ID and mobile number during registration.
  • Strictly follow the instructions mentioned in the Information Bulletin and on the NTA website.

Eligibility & Admission

JEE (Main) 2026 Paper 1 is for admission to undergraduate engineering programs (B.E./B.Tech) at NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs, while Paper 2A and 2B are for B.Arch and B.Planning programs respectively. The exam also serves as the eligibility test for JEE Advanced, required for IIT admissions.
