his office. Then he goes 8 Km turning to his left.
After this he goes 4 Km turning to his left. How far is
he from the fixed point?
Solution
Start from office (fixed point).
Move 10 km west.
Left from west = south → move 8 km south.
Left from south = east → move 4 km east.
Net west movement = 10 − 4 = 6 km (west).
Net south movement = 8 km (south).
Distance from office = √(62 + 82)
= √(36 + 64) = √100 = 10 km
Answer: 10 km
