Previous Year Question (PYQs)

Three cities A, B, C are equidistant from each other. A motorist travels from A to B at 30km/hour, from B to C at 40km/hour, and from C to A at 50km/hour. Then the average speed is

Solution

Let distance is x ,
so
time t1=x/30,
t2=x/40 and
t3=x/50.
From question same distance so total distance = 3x
total time = x/30+x/40+x/50
so
Average speed = total distance/ total time =3x/(x/30+x/40+x/50)= 1800/47=38.3km/h.
