Solution

In alpha-beta pruning, two values are maintained:

$ \alpha $ = best value found so far for MAX player

$ \beta $ = best value found so far for MIN player

These values are updated while moving along the search path in the game tree.

So, alpha and beta values do not update only at the initial state or only at the end.

They are updated along the path of search.
