Previous Year Question (PYQs)

A, B, C, D and E distribute some cards among themselves in a manner that A gets one less than B; C gets 5 more than D; E gets 3 more than B while D gets as many as B. Who gets the least cards?

Solution

Solution:
Let B = x.
Then D = x (D gets as many as B).
A = x − 1
C = D + 5 = x + 5
E = B + 3 = x + 3

Smallest value is x − 1 (with A).
